UBT birthday: open control session, individual start

Dates: 04.10.2026 Type: Unofficial Time Trial Directions: Road Cycling Disciplines: Individual Time Trial
Location: Kazakhstan, Almaty Region, Kyrbaltabay village, UBT TT
Latitude: 43.602447° N Longitude: 77.487865° E

Format

  • Distance: 25 km — out and back along the Kyrbaltabay - Tuganbay road.
  • The road stays open to traffic — this is a control session, not a closed course. There is very little traffic on this road, but the rules still apply: every rider is responsible for their own health, their own life and their own compliance.
  • Individual start, 30 seconds apart.
  • Field limit: 60 men and 60 women (if it fills up, the limit will be raised and the schedule shifted slightly).

Bikes

Any type of bike that is road-legal is allowed, except the ones with an undeniable advantage over a time-trial bike (e-bikes, recumbents and tandems, for example).

Participants

Riders born in 2011 or earlier may start.

Women

  • 2011–1991
  • 1990–1981
  • 1980–1971
  • 1970 and earlier

Men

  • 2011–1991
  • 1990–1981
  • 1980–1971
  • 1970 and earlier

An adult takes responsibility for their own participation; for a minor, their legal representatives do. This is confirmed at registration by a declaration — the organizers print the forms and hand them out on site.

Entry fees

  • Start fee — 1000 tenge. All of it goes into the prize fund; please bring it in cash.
  • Finish fee — optional: a thank-you to the organizers once the event is over.

Schedule

  • 8:00 — registration opens
  • 9:00 — the first rider starts (riders go in ascending order of the numbers handed out at the start)
  • 10:00 — latest possible start
  • 11:30 — awards

Registration stays open after the starts have begun.

Awards

  • A cup for the overall winner among the men and for the overall winner among the women.
  • Certificates for the top three overall (men and women separately) and for the top three in each age category. A rider on the overall podium is not awarded again in their category.
  • Prizes from UBT and Giant.
  • Cash prizes from the prize fund, which is made up entirely of the start fees. The funds are separate: the women's fees are played out among the women, the men's among the men.

Every second you win in the results is worth 100 tenge: first the winner is paid for his margin over second place, then the first two for their margin over third, and so on until the prize fund runs out. Whoever it does not reach gets nothing. Amounts are rounded to 1000 tenge.

Live results during the race

Results are not only online on the event page: you can watch your position and the gaps on your bike computer or watch while you ride. How to set it up:

In the app, leave the site address at its default, set the Competition ID to 533, and enter your bib number after you register on site and receive it.

Disqualification

  • Drafting is not allowed. Deliberate, sustained sitting on a wheel disqualifies the rider sitting there.
  • Pushing is not allowed. Both riders are disqualified — the one pushing and the one being pushed — and their team is given a warning; a second such case disqualifies the whole team.
  • Other breaches — penalties under the UCI rules.

The exception is helping someone who has fallen ill reach the finish, with no claim on the prizes: that does not count as a breach.

Route and start point

Registration on the site is already open. The exact route will be published later, and the start point will be pinned down as well: right now the start area is given to within a couple of kilometres.
