Announcement

The Valencia Marathon 2026 will be held on 6 December 2026 in Valencia, Spain. The race is one of the qualifying events for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Valencia will host the full-marathon debut of four-time Olympic champion and 14-time world champion cross-country skier Therese Johaug (38). In September 2026 she finished 19th in the Copenhagen Half Marathon in 1:08.43, the best European performance. "I have never been in such good running shape as I am now," Johaug said.

She missed the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy because of the birth of her second child: she had announced her retirement after the 2021/22 season, her daughter was born in May 2023, she announced her comeback in August 2024 and won the Tour de Ski for a fourth time in January 2025.
